I’m delighted to share some exciting news.

My next children’s book, The Tale of Florence and the Black Cat, is now available.

This new adventure follows Florence, the black-and-white Border Collie, as she explores Tintock Wood with her human mummy, Debra. During their walk, they discover a mysterious black cat racing through the forest — a cat who has fallen through a secret door and has no idea how to get home.

Florence does what she does best: she gathers her friends and tries to help.

Soon the wood fills with familiar characters — a wise old owl, Ted the fox, Rhona the magical bunny, Laura the dragon, and many more — all working together to solve the mystery of where the lost cat belongs.

What follows is an enchanting journey involving magical animals, flying adventures across Fife, a secret beach beside a loch, unexpected clues about a giant, and a celebration cake shared among friends.

The Tale of Florence and the Black Cat is a story about friendship, bravery, kindness, and the magic that appears when we help someone who feels lost.

I’m especially proud of this story because it celebrates imagination, community, and the wonderful curiosity children bring to the world.

And yes, the magical bunny might look like someone many of us know.

Pre-ordering is one of the most helpful things you can do for an author. It helps generate early momentum and brings the story to more young readers.

Thank you to everyone who has supported my books and shared Florence’s adventures with children, families, and schools. Your encouragement means more than you know.

Keep believing in a little magic.

— Debra
