Headline at Tell Us a Story

Be our headline speaker

Tell Us a Story is a free monthly storytelling night in East Dunbartonshire libraries. Published authors, brand-new writers, and those who swear they’re not writers, all get up and read for five minutes. It’s a safe, friendly space, and the rooms are full of people who’ve come to listen.

Every month, we have a headline speaker, and I’d love it to be you.

Readers and audience at a Tell Us a Story evening in Bishopbriggs Library

What’s involved

  • A 10-minute slot just before the break to read from your work, tell us about your writing, or both
  • A relaxed, supportive audience of readers, writers and word-lovers
  • Wednesday evenings, 6–8 pm, in libraries across East Dunbartonshire: Bishopbriggs, Bearsden, Kirkintilloch, Lennoxtown and Milngavie

What you get

  • A table to sell and sign your books on the night
  • Your name and photo on the event poster and Eventbrite page
  • Promotion across my social media, blog and newsletter, before and after the event
  • A room of new readers who are likely to follow you home, so to speak

Who I’m looking for

Novelists, storytellers, crime writers, memoirists, children’s authors, poets, local historians: anyone with a cracking story and a love of sharing it. You don’t need to be famous. You just need to enjoy reading to a room.

The honest bit

Tell Us a Story is run for the love of it. I’m not paid to organise it, so I can’t offer a fee or expenses. What I can promise is a warm welcome, a lovely evening, and an audience who want to hear your words.
